Biometric Access Systems

What Are Biometrics

Biometrics is about measuring unique physical characteristics of the human anatomy, such as, fingerprints, iris, face, hand geometry, retinal, vein and voice. Biometrics are fast becoming the preferable security choice of the future.

Biometric technologies are becoming the foundation of an extensive array of highly secure identification and personal verification solutions. As the level payroll cost burden increases, the need for highly secure identification and personal verification technologies is becoming apparent.

Using biometrics is a perfect compliment to DataScope Time and Attendance systems. We have been working with experts in the fields of fingerprint and hand recognition systems and have integrated these technologies with our DataReader's. This enables a user to carry their own "digital signature" on their card and ensure user presence for physical access.

Access and Identification Challenges

Managing today’s Access and identification challenges require the next generation solutions that are scalable and easy to integrate. When evaluating solutions systems need to be flexible and inexpensive to develop and low cost to maintain.

If you are looking for an innovative platform that helps to minimize human intervention look no further. DataScope System’s are your solution. DataScope use proven Biometric technologies which allow identification and verification of individuals based on physical characteristics. They match the patterns of these individuals, in real time, against databases of enrolled records. The main biometric technologies include fingerprint, and hand geometry.

Identification is a Three Step process

The match process can be broken down into three steps:

  • The image (i.e., fingerprint) is captured;
  • It is converted into a template;
  • Using complex algorithms, the template is matched against a stored record.

Biometric technologies operate in two distinct modes:

  • Authentication (one-to-one matching)
  • Identification (one-to-many matching).

However, only finger, face and iris biometrics are actually capable of performing one-to-many matching, that is distinguishing one person amongst millions of others. DataScope software and systems have been designed to provide enhanced physical identification and transaction processing at the front end of physical access control security systems.

Complete Front-end Solution

DataScope offer a complete front-end solution for managing enrollments for access control systems. The enrollment procedure acquires, processes and manages biometric templates to verify a person’s identity when requesting access at the access terminal. The enrollment process also associates badge numbers and person names with the biometric templates.

Upon enrollment database records can be pushed out to Dative Reader terminals. Depending on the required level of access security, DataScope can provide layered identification solutions by implementing a combination of card, biometric and PINs. Dative Reader terminals are the first line of defense in a physical access control system and integrate seamlessly with any your current access procedures.

Dative Reader terminals

Dative Reader terminals authenticate a persons identity once positive identification has been established and credentials validated, the terminal sends a badge number and facility code to the control panel for determining whether or not a person is allowed access. Access is either granted or denied based on rules established in the control panel.
