RAF Fairford

In 2000 the construction company Alfred McAlpine won a £50m contract to upgrade the RAF Fairford runway in Gloucestershire. To cope with the B-52 which is the heaviest aircraft loading in the Western world. The reconstruction and improvements included:

Widening o taxiways, Enlarging half of the aircraft parking hardstands, Tripling fuel storage, Replacing the main power grid for the airfield and its 11 miles of cable and Replacing the airfield lights, including new runway and taxiway lighting systems.

Alfred McAlpine used the DataScope system to monitor over 1000 contracting and staff, mostly swiping on and off every day. The system proved extremely successful and ran for the duration of the contract.

Swipe Units were Positioned at Main Gatehouse, Due to the security issues on site very detailed records needed to kept and maintained throughout the period of use. The advantage with the DataScope system was that it allowed security, Management and HR personnel to access and manage their data through secure encrypted user accounts.
